Happy holidays gorgeous! I hope you made lots of memories with your family and friends over the last few days. After some much needed time away from social media, it’s time to finish the 12 Date of Christmas series!
The last several days have been filled with amazing food, drinks, and a heck of a lot of chocolate. My body has been craving some serious nutrients, the antioxidants from cacao just aren’t enough, LOL! Yesterday after running a few errands with Cody, we decided to head to Heirloom Vegetarian for the ultimate vegetable fix.
THE LOW DOWN
Heirloom is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. On their all-vegetarian menu, pretty much everything is gluten and dairy free (or can be modified). The restaurants all white walls definitely help the space feel big and bright, and the laid-back house music in the background is actually quite pleasant. The two owners describe Heirloom as “a vegetarian restaurant not for vegetarians“. That is something I definitely agree with. Even my most meat-loving friends always fall in love with the atmosphere, great service, and kick ass plant-based eats at Heirloom.
I ordered my two favourites, the kale caesar salad (gluten-free croutons and beet bacon yasss) and miso brussel sprouts. We also decided to get the veggie burger on gluten free bun with vegan cheese. As per usual, I had a glass of wine and Cody opted for a beer. If you want something sans booze, the E3 Live Algae Lemonade is super delish despite how that may sound. Check out the full menu here! Compared to a lot of other specialty plant-based restaurants, the prices here are very reasonable and I always have leftovers to take home…. healthiest munchies ever!
Initially, when I told Cody I wanted to go to a vegetarian restaurant he questioned if he would be able to get enough protein and feel full. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this concern en route to Heirloom, most people I’ve gone here with have been skeptical at first. Unsurprisingly, like all of the other people I’ve taken to Heirloom, he felt full and satisfied after our meal.
Whether you already live a plant-based life or are just looking to get in a few more veggies, I’d highly recommend this spot. Recently I went for vegan and gluten-free high tea at another fab spot, read all about it here!
